We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.Closing Date: 30 June 2024The RoleThe School of Engineering at Newcastle University are seeking to appoint a research professional to join the Geospatial Data, Analytics and Modelling team working on the application of urban development modelling. Your role will involve continued development of the Urban Development Model (UDM), a key computer model of the Newcastle Urban Integrated Assessment Framework (UIAF); a suite of models that have been extensively utilised in climate impact research, infrastructure systems assessment and urban sustainability studies.Ideally you will have experience of academic research and collaborative projects, with expert knowledge of urban simulation modelling particularly in relation in the use of geospatial data and methods for simulating urban processes such as land-use change.You should hold a PhD (or nearing completion) in the field of urban analytics and modelling and/or geospatial data science or a closely related discipline. You should have a strong publication record and experience of presenting at international conferences. Experience of working with industry and government stakeholders and partners is highly desirable.The Geospatial Data, Analytics and Modelling Group focuses on the use of geospatial data, analytics and modelling applied to urban and infrastructure systems research and applications; ranging from real-time data analytics through to decadal urban and infrastructure systems planning.For more information about the School of Engineering, and our research, please click .The appointment is fixed-term, tenable for 12 months in the first instance. The position is available on a full-time basis (37 hours per week).
