Research Assistant/Fellow in Health Economics

The Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) is seeking to appoint, a Research Assistant or Research Fellow for 12 months.  The post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Preference and Value (PAVE) theme and would suit a candidate whose research interests focus on the development and application of discrete choice experiments to value health care.

HERU is one of Europe’s leading centres for health economics. In 2018 the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education was awarded to the University of Aberdeen in recognition of world-leading research into health economics and health services research undertaken at HERU and the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) over the last 40 years. Key responsibilities will include: designing discrete choice experiment studies to value health care; analysing data from discrete choice experiments to understand patient or public preferences and contributing to projects to test and improve the validity of DCEs.

The postholder will also develop teaching material for, and teach on, our DCE course.

Appointees at Grade 5 level will be expected to have an MSc in economics/health economics

Appointees at Grade 6 level will be expected to have a PhD in economics/health economics. Candidates with an MSc in economics/health economics whose PhD is under assessment would be appointed on grade 5 until their PhD is completed.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 5 (£30,619 – £34,314 per annum) or Grade 6: (£36,333 – £38,474 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.  Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and probation period.
