About us The mission of the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health is to improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. GOS ICH’s activities include active engagement with children and families, to ensure that our work is relevant and appropriate to their needs. GOS ICH generates the funding for our research by setting out our proposals in high quality applications to public, charitable and industrial funding bodies and disseminates the results of our research by publication in the medical and scientific literature, to clinicians, policy makers and the wider public. The Institute offers world-class education and training across a wide range of teaching and life learning programmes which address the needs of students and professional groups who are interested in and undertaking work relevant to child health.About the role This post offers an excellent career development opportunity for a Researcher with experience in epidemiological research methods and an interest in conducting research to inform practice for children and young people. The post is based within the Population Policy and Practice Programme (PPP) at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (UCLGOSICH). The post-holder will be joining a study team conducting a feasibility trial of an innovative imaging based clinical tool. The post is based within the UCLGOSICH Vison and Eyes Team, and is funded by Fight for Sight. The post-holder will take up primary responsibility for day-to-day study administration, management and analysis (quantitative and qualitative), and dissemination. They will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, in a timely manner. Training will be provided to enable the post-holder to deliver study responsibilities. The post will require the post-holder to be on site for a minimum of two days a week. The salary offered on the post is £42,099 – £44,347 per annum and is funded for 34 months in the first instance.Please note: Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (Salary £37,332 – £39,980 per annum, including London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).About you You are an organized and proactive individual with a background in health-related research. Holding a graduate degree in a relevant subject, preferably a PhD, you have experience in epidemiological research, scientific writing, and dissemination, especially in eye or child health.Proficient in data management and / or analysis software like REDCap, STATA, or R, you understand data security and confidentiality. Your skills include excellent administrative abilities, communication (verbal, data visual, scientific wriiting), and the capacity to prioritize workloads. You can work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.Personally, you are creative, and committed to high-quality research.
