The roleA postdoctoral research associate position is available to work in the Lennox Lab ( ) to work on the development of synthetic electrochemical methodologies with novel electrocatalysts and electrode surfacesWhat will you be doing?You will be required to work on multiple projects simultaneously, but your primary responsibility will be on the design and synthesis of new electrocatalysts on electrode surfaces, and the development of new synthetic methodology using the tools of organic electrochemistry. In addition, density functional theory (DFT) will be used to assess the mechanisms of reactions that are developed. This exciting multidisciplinary project will involve a combination of techniques associated with inorganic and organic synthesis, computational calculations and electrochemistry.You should apply ifYou should have a PhD in Chemistry or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up the appointment. You will have a keen interest and enthusiasm to expand your expertise into new areas and in unfamiliar disciplines, to work on high risk/high reward projects, and to work beyond the traditional boundaries of organic synthesis both independently and through collaboration. You will have extensive expertise in electrochemistry, electrode surface manipulation and characterisation and computational chemistry. You will be comfortable in the safe handling of toxic and hazardous materials, and be proficient in the accurate characterisation of complex organic molecules. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and will be capable of working under their own initiative.
