About usThe number theory group at King’s currently consists of David Burns, Lassina Dembele, Fred Diamond, Netan Dogra, Andrea Dotto, Natalie Evans, Peter Jossen, Payman Kassaei, Asuka Kumon, Steve Lester, Rachel Newton, Owen Patashnick, Beth Romano, and Igor Wigman, as well as several post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.We work closely with other leading universities across London, creating a hub of mathematical excellence in Number Theory. We co-organize the London Number Theory Seminar, and participate in joint study groups, providing a platform for collaborative learning with our academic partners across London.About the roleApplications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work with Payman Kassaei and Fred Diamond on the EPSRC funded project “Langlands reciprocity and the geometry of Shimura varieties: the mod p interface”. This is a two-year position which includes a travel budget. The expected start date is 1st of September 2025, but is negotiable.The PDRA will be expected to work on aspects of the proposed research, including (but not limited to) mod p geometry of Shimura varieties and their stratifications, p-adic Hodge theory, mod p and p-adic automorphic forms.About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria1. A PhD (or equivalent) in mathematics.2. Excellence in research and publications, commensurate with career stage3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills4. Specialist knowledge in an area related to the research programmeDesirable criteria1. Experience of working as part of a group2.
