AcademicJob Category Faculty Non BargainingJob Title Research AssociateDepartment Shekhar | Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering | Faculty of Applied Science (Sudip Shekhar)Posting End Date April 14, 2025Note: Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on the Posting End Date.Job End Date Apr 30, 2026The expected pay rate for this position is $8750.00/month.Research AssociateThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver campus, is seeking a full-time Research Associate to join the UBC System-on-a-chip (SoC) Research Group.The Research Associate will design analog and mixed-signal circuits for electrical and silicon photonic communications systems. This position involves integrated circuit and system design, mathematical modeling, simulation, and lab measurements.Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Conducting research in the field of microelectronics, optical and wireless communication
  • Modeling Electronics and Photonics components
  • Designing and simulating integrated circuits
  • Doing measurements in the lab
  • Mentoring students in modeling, simulation, tapeouts and measurement ensuring reliable results after chip fabrication
  • Preparing documentation and publications in top-tier venues
  • Helping with grant funding proposals and reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • At least three years of postdoctoral training in a relevant discipline
  • An excellent publication record, with multiple first-author and co-authored publications in relevant fields

This initial appointment is for a one-year term at 100% FTE (40 hours per week), with possibility of extension subject to work performance and available funding.
