DepartmentThe Mental Health and Addiction Research Group (MHARG) at the Department of Health Sciences, University of York, is looking to appoint a Research Associate to play a leading role in a new research study funded by NIHR aiming to develop an intervention to help nurses improve the assessment and care of the sexual health needs of men with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (The MenSH-IBD Study).We are looking for a researcher with experience of health services research who has previously played a leading role in multi-disciplinary work at a complex University setting. Previous experience of NHS-based intervention research projects and mixed methods research, particularly survey methods, is an advantage. The researcher’s skill set should enable them to manage the day-to-day running of the project and to liaise with team members, participants, clinicians, and other partners across multiple sites in the University and the NHS. The post-holder will be part of a large and successful academic group with a strong track record in applied health research.The University of York offers flexible working patterns and a number of family friendly initiatives. We embrace as well as the values of the Athena SWAN Charter in all our Departmental activitiesRoleThe main purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day delivery of the MenSH-IBD study by facilitating, contributing to, and monitoring research activities. Key duties will include: data collection; analysis and interpretation of research data; use of appropriate research techniques and methods (quantitative and qualitative); writing up of research results and dissemination through publications, seminar and conference presentations and public engagement and outreach activities; contributing to the identification of possible new areas of research.The work will be undertaken with support from other members of the multidisciplinary team and under the supervision of Principal Investigators, Professor Paul Galdas at the University of York, and Mrs Sara Ma at York St. John University.Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
