Are you a talented mathematical modeller eager to apply your skills to cutting-edge biological research?We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to develop and analyse mathematical models that explain pigmentation pattern formation in mammals.This role is part of an interdisciplinary project in collaboration with Lancaster University, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and focuses on the unique spotted patterns in Dalmatian dogs and mouse models.Key Responsibilities
As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.About the ProjectThis role is part of the “Spot the Difference” research initiative, which seeks to understand how pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) interact with developing skin and hair follicles to form complex patterns. By combining experimental biology, genetic analysis, and advanced mathematical modelling, we aim to create predictive models that can explain and replicate pigmentation phenomena in animals.About youThis position is ideal for a researcher with a background in applied mathematics, mathematical biology, or computational modelling, with experience in stochastic processes, differential equations, or agent-based modelling.
