SOC388124We are looking for an experienced researcher with expertise in the generation and analysis of quantitative education data to work in the Observatory for Mathematical Education; a collaboration between the School of Education and the School of Mathematical Sciences. The Observatory will generate state-of-the-art, evidence-driven, and policy-relevant research to improve mathematical education, learner outcomes and longer-term benefits for individuals and society. Its remit stretches through primary and secondary maths education, to undergraduate study and postgraduate research in the mathematical sciences.The Observatory will explore how learner pathways and outcomes are impacted by a range of societal, personal, and educational factors, through the generation and analysis of a groundbreaking primary dataset comprising multiple linked surveys as part of the Observatory’s longitudinal cohort studies, and through the analysis of administrative datasets (e.g. the National Pupil Database). It will also undertake additional evaluation and intervention projects in mathematics education.The Observatory enjoys an excellent working environment where our talented and inclusive team can collaborate to deliver the highest quality research. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week).
