Research Associate in Hollow Core Optical Fibres

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to become a core part of a team working in the field of low-loss hollow-core optical fibres.The project is funded by a major optical fibre producer, Sumitomo Electric Industries, who will be working as a part of the team at the University.Within the project there are opportunities for developing the field in numerous ways, including:

About us:
The University of Bath has a long-standing track record of transformative innovation in the field of novel optical fibres. We use our bespoke optical fibre fabrication equipment alongside characterisation laboratories and different numerical and analytical tools to generate influential and important advances. The broader team of researchers in this area in the department includes researchers at all career stages with a wide range of expertise, providing a natural environment for rapid progress.The purpose of this project is to use our existing expertise combined with the complementary knowledge of our industrial sponsor to advance new forms of optical fibre to real-world applications.Our ambition for the project is to work as a team to generate scientific results which are of global importance, while having fun doing so!
