A research associate position is available to study how gene expression dynamics control cell fate decisions during embryonic development, using Drosophila as a model. The project will exploit cutting-edge live imaging and the tractability of Drosophila to study different steps in the gene expression pathway. This research will capitalise on our progress in this area (e.g. Pizzey et al, J Cell Sci, 2025; Forbes Beadle et al, Cell Rep, 2023; Forbes Beadle et al, PLoS Biol, 2023). This project is part of a larger research programme, which is funded by the Wellcome Trust and led by Professors Hilary Ashe and Magnus Rattray. As such, the successful applicant will be part of a team of motivated researchers, with significant scientific synergy between team members. You should hold a PhD or equivalent in a biological science, be highly motivated and have an interest in developmental biology.
