Job description

A position exists for Research Associate/Research Assistant in the Development and Characterisation of Efficient and Stable Perovskite Devices. The aim of the role is to work within a new Royal Society funded project focusing on fabricating and characterising perovskite devices. Advanced structural and spectroscopic characterization tools will be employed to investigate the perovskite devices in particular. We aim to unfold photophysical processes occurring within fully assembled devices while pushing power conversion efficiency and operational stability of perovskite devices. This project provides an opportunity to work with other groups working on the perovskite devices in Cambridge, and with international collaborators. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) position to work in the Optoelectronics Group at Cambridge to drive the collective efforts to achieve the project goals. You will contribute to the project by involving extensive interactions with the local team and project partners and developing effective working relationships with a range of collaborators. We particularly encourage candidates who are typically underrepresented in the STEM area to apply. As the position will be based within the Cavendish Laboratory, you will be taking advantage of state-of-the-art deposition and characterisation equipment across the West Cambridge campus including facilities within the Henry Royce Institute. You will have extensive expertise in materials science, device physics of perovskite semiconductors and application in solar cells. We anticipate that you will focus on: 1. fabrication and characterization of solar cells and light-emitting device in addition to holding a good understanding of structural, morphological, and compositional characterization of solid-state materials. Experience in organic or hybrid materials and device fabrication is essential, including but not limited to, hybrid perovskite for solar cell or light-emitting device applications. 2. experience in the advanced characterisation of materials and devices including optoelectronic and spectroscopic measurements is essential. You must hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related area (or be close to completion). A proven track record of scientific publication and presentation at international conferences is essential. In addition to working independently, you should also work well in a team and help to promote a collaborative environment, interacting frequently with others in the team (Ph.D. students, PDRAs, and academic staff). Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are also required.A proven track record of scientific publication and presentation at international conferences is essential.
