This position has 40.5 hours per week with a prorated salary range of $53,840 – $67,307. This position has a term length of 12 months starting from July 1, 2024.

Working for the Department of Physics

The Department of Physics offers research opportunities in several disciplines, including Astronomy and Astrophysics, Biophysics, Computational Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology and Gravity Physics, Geophysical Sciences, Global Geodynamics and Seismology, Particle Physics (Experimental and Theoretical branches), Plasma Physics and Space Physics.

Position

Prof. A. Penin’s particle theory group is recruiting for a part-time Research Associate to assist with a project involving high-precision calculation in a wide class of quantum field theory problems which are of primary phenomenological importance for current and future experiments.

Duties

• Carrying out high-level, complex research activities in theoretical particle physics
• Assisting in the writing of research papers, preparation of presentations and publications
• Presenting research results at seminars and scientific conferences
• Assisting with the preparation of research grant applications and contract proposals
• Supervising students

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics
• Several years of postdoctoral research experience
• Demonstrated strong background in high-order perturbative analysis in particle physics – a candidate has to be in command of modern effective field theory techniques including Soft Collinear Effective Theory, Nonrelativistic QCD, etc.
• Experience in the renormalization group analysis of high-energy processes at subleading power is highly desirable
• A high level of programming is also required
• The candidate’s experience in supervising master’s and PhD students is considered an asset
