Research Associate – India, West Bengal The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a proactive Research Associate who is specialist in Tissue Culture and Disease Diagnostic to work with the project team and otherpartners on the project titled: ‘Developing local Seed Potato Production System in West Bengal.’

About the role

This position will be based in West Bengal and the selected candidate will be responsible for Tissue CultureandtheDiseasediagnosticinLabaswellasfieldlevel.Thepositionrequiresworkingexperience in Plant Tissue Culture and handling disease diagnostic tools, like ELISA. This position will be based in Siliguri, West Bengal, India and will report to the Project Manager of West Bengal Project. Key responsibilities:

The selected candidate will mainly focus on these tasks/responsibilities below: • Assist in the development and maintenance of tissue culture lines.

• Conduct diagnostic tests for plant diseases using molecular and biochemical methods. • Maintain accurate records of experiments and results.

• Prepare reagents, media, and other materials for laboratory work.

• Support senior researchers in data collection and analysis.

• Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

• Follow laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.

What are we looking for?

The selected candidate should have the following skills, knowledge, experience, and personal characteristics:

• Master’s degree in biotechnology, Plant Science, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience in tissue culture and plant disease diagnostics. • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR and ELISA.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

• Advance written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi and Bengali. • Willingness to travel frequently within Districts of West Bengal.
