The postholder will be a part of a multidisciplinary crew engaged on the inclusiveXplay venture, (supported by an ERC-selected Consolidator Grant, funded by UKRI), through which we’re investigating how cross-sensory and embodied cognition can inform the design of novel applied sciences that may help early motor, cognitive and social improvement of blind and visually impaired (BVI) preschool-aged kids after they work together with their sighted friends. The postholder will lead on the cognitivescience elements of the inclusiveXplay venture: to empirically research cross-sensory notion in BVI and sighted kids, to characterise cross-sensory correspondences between sensory modalities (visible, auditory, haptic, olfactory and gustatory), and to provide basic insights into BVI and sighted kids’s potential shared cross-sensory cognition.
You’ll research cross-sensory cognition in BVI and sighted kids by extending present cross-sensory paradigms of symbolic transformations and communication throughout sensory modalities.
