Through the generous contributions of both foundations, WCHRI has been able to support the research excellence, training and development activities of investigators from a wide range of clinical and academic disciplines, all focusing their efforts on improving health outcomes for women and children in our province.WCHRI is the only research institute in Canada — and one of the few in the world — to focus on women’s and children’s health, including perinatal health. The Institute is considered to be a national authority and leader in women’s and children’s health issues. The scope and complexity of WCHRI is extensive –supporting over 430 members from 14 faculties and three colleges across the University of Alberta.Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Research Associate in WCHRI, this is a senior-level, Research Coordinator based at the University of Alberta. The Research Coordinator tasks will support research and knowledge translation activities for the Maskwacis portion of the Indigenous Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (I-HeLTI). I-HeLTI is a CIHR-funded, multi-year, multi-community cohort study involving mothers, fathers, children and other family members in 23 Indigenous communities in Alberta and BC.This Research Coordinator will also support other related research guided by the Maskwacis Wakhohtowin Research Group (WRG) and partners at the University of Alberta. The WRG includes community-based and university-based team members. This position will work in collaboration withother WCHRI staff involved with community-led Indigenous health research.The position will be instrumental in supporting WRG research activities and building and maintaining relationships within the multiple communities and many stakeholders that are part of I-HeLTI.Duties
