Hours: Full-time

Salary: £36,333 – £39,592 per annum

The School of Natural and Built Environment (NBE) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an ambitious and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to join the PIPES (Pollutants in Peatlands: From Sink to Source) research project working on data collection, analysis, synthesis and preparation of papers for publication.

The post is a critical role, and as such, the successful applicant will have responsibilities in independent research, day to day lab management, collaborations, writing academic publications, and outreach.

The project will involve field and laboratory work, including analysis of peat cores and overseeing a manipulative experiment. 

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you:

  • Have or be about to obtain a relevant PhD. (e.g. Physical Geography, Archaeological Science, Geology, Geo/Earth Science, Environmental Science).
  • Can demonstrate at least 3 years’ relevant research experience to include:

–    Undertaking research in the area of physical geography, geology, ecology, archaeology or environmental science

–    A proven track record of relevant analyses, and interpretations of scientific data

–    Working effectively as part of a research team in the development and promotion of the research theme

–    Publication record commensurate with stage of career.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
