We have an outstanding international reputation and a community of over 500 staff and more than 300 PhD students engaged in cutting edge research and collaboration.This is an exciting opportunity to join the Kittler Lab and become part of a team to study the mechanisms of organelle dynamics in health and disease.About the roleThe main purpose of this position is to perform experiments and analysis pertaining to understanding the role of organelle dynamics in cell function, health and disease. Main duties and responsibilities will be to apply molecular, cell biological, imaging, bioinformatic, and mass spectrometric analyses of the role of mitochondrial and other organelle dynamics in brain cell health and disease.This role is an open-ended contract with a funding end date of 31/03/2027 in the first instance, and please note that salary will be maximum £48,007 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £38,607 – £41,255 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff. Experience in coding (e.g. in proteomics analysis using e.g.MaxQuant or Perseus), is also essential.Key qualities will include an in depth understanding of cell biology and biochemistry/proteomics in addition to mitochondrial biology as it pertains to health and neurological disease states.
