About usThe 2007 opening of the Cancer Institute in the Paul O’Gorman Building heralded a new era in cancer research and medicine at UCL. The Institute is consolidating cancer research across the campus. In particular, it fosters links between basic cancer researchers across Biomedicine, and with the clinical activities of our partner Hospitals (University College London Hospitals including Queen Square, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the Royal Free Hospital).Information about the UCL Cancer Institute can be found on our websiteThe UCL academic CAR T-cell programme is the most comprehensive in Europe, encompassing a broad-ranging portfolio of studies actively recruiting patients with B and T-cell malignancies, myeloma, neuroblastoma and gliomas.About the roleThe purpose of this position is to join the GMP CAR T-cell manufacturing team to develop faster, adaptive and scalable technologies for CAR-T manufacture. The successful candidate will be a reliable and detail-oriented individual, who works well in a team and thrives in a fast-paced working environment.The postholder will have a solid wet-lab background with experience on cell culture, as well as in flow cytometry analysis and immune functional assays. Prior experience in the field of immunotherapy is highly desirable, as is an in-depth knowledge of immunology and CAR T cell biology.The Research Fellow will also lead on the development of new cell therapy products and GMP-compliant manufacturing methodologies, and will be responsible for the supervision and training of technical staff.This is a unique opportunity to join a leading academic team at the forefront of CAR-T cells clinical research, and contribute to cutting-edge research to improve the delivery of better products to patients.For more information:Applications should include a CV and a Cover Letter: In the Cover Letter please evidence the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification part of the Job Description. The role will be available until the 1st of June 2026 in the first instance.Interviews are expected to take place on the 1st May 2025.About youPhD in Mol Biology/Immunology/Genetics/Biochemistry or related area is essential.
