About usThe UCL Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) is chaired by Professor Annie Britton and houses approximately 140 staff divided across seven research groups: namely the Central and Eastern Europe Research, Dental Public Health, Health and Social Surveys Research, Institute of Health Equity, International Centre for Life Course Studies in Society and Health, UCL Centre for Humanitarianism and Social Inclusion, and Whitehall II Study. Our research focuses on a wide range of public health concerns such as heart disease; dental public health; mental health and well-being; and child development and ageing. Our research has significant real-world impact, informing policy and practice both in the United Kingdom and around the world. One of our major contributions is to the wider understanding of inequalities in health by government, practitioners and the general public. This post is based within the Central and Eastern European Research which is led by Professor Martin Bobak. The main research agenda of the Group focuses on social, behavioural and biological determinants of health, cardiovascular diseases, other chronic diseases and ageing, with emphasis on the impact of societal transformation.About the roleThe post-holder will participate in previously initiated work on an EU Horizon 2020 funded CETOCOEN EXCELLENCE Project focusing on environmental health in Central and Eastern Europe. The post holder will contribute to maintaining and analysing the existing HAPIEE cohort dataset, lead specific analyses and manuscript preparations.The salary offered is Grade 7 £42,099-£50,585 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.This post is available from 1 September 2024 with funding until 31 December 2025. Please note that appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, the initial appointment will be as a Research Assistant on Grade 6B, Spine point 25 (salary £37,332 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.About youThe candidate will have a PhD in epidemiology, medical statistics or related disciplines and knowledge and experience in analysis of epidemiological data using appropriate statistical methods.
