Full time, Fixed term until 31st March 2026Further your Research career with Edinburgh Napier UniversityWe are currently looking for a Research Fellow to join the project team with a specific focus on data relating to military veterans. This project is funded by the ESRC until 31 March 2026 and will contribute towards the work of the Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research (SCADR). While no guarantee beyond the 31 March 2026, the SCADR/ADR Scotland programme has been successfully funded since 2018 onwards.The project involves the analysis of a dataset that links together the census and administrative data to create a linked dataset of service leavers resident in Scotland. Findings will have policy relevance with pathways to impact being enabled through a stakeholder group with representation from government, and from charitable organisations with responsibilities towards our veteran community.The RoleThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in social statistics, excellent statistical and methodological skills, and a passion for using data to answer complex questions.Responsibilities include collaborating with external partners from the government and the third sector towards enabling data permissions. Collaborating with the project leads and colleagues you will you use your experience in large datasets to develop analytical approaches to be used throughout the project. Additionally, the individual in this position will securely manage and analyse datasets, translating their findings into actionable insights.The role will also involves liaising with government and non-governmental organisations and writing academic papers and accessible reports.The School of Health and Social CareWe aim to create research opportunities that develop talent and solutions that really work and matter in today’s and tomorrow’s world.   • PhD in a relevant field with substantial statistical element (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Public Policy, Sociology).
  • Experience in analysing administrative data and managing large datasets.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R or Stata).
  • Experience of writing for publication to peer reviewed journals
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
