About usApplications are invited for a Research Fellow to join the Edwards/Cummings lab in the Department of Neuroscience Physiology and Pharmacology.The main purpose of the position is to undertake electrophysiological experiments (patch clamp and field recording) in brain slices from novel aged mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. The post is funded by the National Institute of Health USA and is a collaboration with neurochemists in Sweden and Chicago. The postholder will also cooperate with the collaborators in addition to assisting the team in the development, planning and delivery of research funded by The Cure Alzheimer’s Fund USA, Alzheimer’s Research UK and The Alzheimer’s Society, UK.About the roleThe successful individual is expected to produce independent and original contributions to the project. (Experience in in vivo patch clamp would also be considered.) Experience handling mice. Submission of PhD in relevant subject area and proven knowledge of central synaptic transmission.Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £37,332 – £39,980 per annum including London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).What we offerAs well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
