Many questions to be worked on are motivated by applications in the theory of Elasto-plasticity (permanent deformation of solids) and its microscopic origins in the movement of dislocations (line defects in the crystal). While no formal education in the more applied aspects of the project is required, a willingness to engage with the physical background is expected. You will be working as part of an inclusive and flexible team, based in the , a world-leading mathematics department.
