About us The Division of Infection and Immunity is part of the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences, which brings together UCL Medical School and five other Divisions spanning clinical and basic biomedicine. Within the Division of Infection and Immunity is the Institute of Immunity & Transplantation (IIT) which will be based in the new Pears Building and it is due to open at the Royal Free Campus in October 2020. At present, the IIT is located in research labs within the Royal Free Hospital.About the role A position for a Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the IIT. The postholder will work on a project to develop TCR gene therapy for ovarian cancer. The goal of the project is to identify cancer-specific TCRs and validate their specificity and functionality in pre-clinical experiments. The postholder will have experience in T cell immunology, molecular biology, gene cloning and genetic engineering of T cells. This research program is jointly funded by the Weizmann Institute and by the Royal Free Charity. The post-holder will also support the work of the group as a whole, with specific duties as below.The position is 0.8FTE and is available for 12 months in the first instance.Note: Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (£37,322 – £39,980 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 (£42,099 – £50,585 per annum) being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. Salaries are inclusive of London Allowance.About you The postholder should have a PhD (or about to be awarded) in a relevant subject. The successful candidates must have significant experience of working in a research laboratory. Evidence of scientific contribution, for example, publications or presentation at conferences is also essential. Candidates must have excellent oral and written scientific communications skills, commitment to collaboration in research and to taking a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving.We welcome applicants who wish to job share.Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.
