About us The Department of Children’s Cardiovascular Disease at UCL’s Institute of Cardiovascular Science is based at the UCL/Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), Zayed Centre for Research. Our overall mission is to improve the lives, health and wellbeing of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class patient centred research, education and public engagement. As a world-class centre of excellence, UCL ICS is focussed on developing novel preventative and therapeutic strategies in cardiovascular medicine.About the role We are recruiting a research fellow to contribute to the development of an Organ to Cell Molecular Imaging (OCMI) platform linking hierarchical phase-contrast imaging (HiP-CT) to spatial transcriptomics via generative AI. • The main purpose of the post is to develop protocols and logistics for appropriate sample collection, preparation and transfer across groups and platforms in a Human Tissue Act compliant manner. To perform base-line assessment of tissue quality including morphology and RNA integrity. To perform morphological image analysis and segmentations as required for the project across groups.The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust (Bioimaging Technology Development Award) until 30 September 2025 in the first instance.As a member of UCL the successful candidate will receive high-quality training, mentoring and access to career development activities. In addition to training within the department, the individual can access UCL’s Research Staff Development Programme, which provides courses to expand transferable skills, support research, professional development, and employability, increasing the applicant’s chances of becoming a future research leader.About you The appointee will have a PhD or equivalent experience. If working towards a PhD, they can be close to completion of this degree. If a PhD is not yet awarded at the start date, appointment will be at Research Assistant grade 6B £38,357 – £41,005 per annum (including London Allowance of £5,125 per annum), with payment at grade 7 backdated to the date of submission of the final PhD thesis.Please see the Job Description for further details.What we offer • 41 Days holiday (27 days annual leave 8 bank holiday and 6 closure days)
