About us The Chemistry Department at University College London is the oldest in England, with 100% of its outputs ranked as being world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) in the recent REF2021. Details about our research can be found on the departmental website http://www.ucl.ac.uk/chemistry.About the role We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher or an experienced graduate to join a research team to scale up the synthesis of four orthogonally protected amino acid building blocks at University College London. In this project, you will develop synthetic routes and scale up the synthesis of four orthogonally protected amino acid building blocks for the solid-phase synthesis of lanthionine-bridged peptides. You will also carry out preliminary market research to establish the commercial prospects for these amino acids. Candidates with a MSci/MChem/MSc in Chemistry with demonstrated expertise in scale-up synthesis, gained in an industrial setting, will also be considered.
