Post-doctoral Research Position in the Single Cell MultiOmics Lab (scMOL) in the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences (CES), Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton

Applications are invited for this full-time post-doctoral research position in bioinformatics with the Single Cell MultiOmics Lab, co-funded by the Southampton NIHR Biomedical Research Centre grant and an MRC project grant “Investigating local determinants of outcome in human tuberculosis”.   The post-holder will work closely alongside Drs Andres Vallejo, supervising the bioinformatic aspects, and Paul Elkington, the lead for the BRC advanced cell culture workflow.   The role will support “omic” clinical translational studies, from initial experimental design through to data analysis and figure creation.

Candidates should have a PhD in bioinformatics or immunology and a track record of research excellence. Candidates with a PhD in computer sciences, maths or a relevant field with experience will also be considered. Training in computational methods for single-cell and spatial-omics profiling will be provided.  We are looking for a highly motivated applicant with good core skills planning to expand their expertise and develop their own project within the group.   The key attributes are teamwork, enthusiasm for emerging bioinformatic approaches and interpersonal skills.   The post is funded for 2 years initially.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant multidisciplinary team of researchers in the Academic Unit of Clinical & Experimental Sciences (CES), Section of Innate Immunity.  The University of Southampton (UoS) is a world-class research-intensive Russell Group university, and central themes of the Faculty of Medicine and NIHR Biomedical research centre are Infectious diseases, Respiratory Medicine and Interdisciplinary research.
