Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Mansfield College, Mansfield Road, OxfordThe Bonavero Institute of Human Rights is seeking to recruit an outstanding legal scholar in business and human rights with demonstrable research expertise in an aspect of business and human rights and/or modern slavery for a fixed term post. The chosen candidate will supervise the Bonavero postdoctoral researcher on the Modern Slavery and Human Rights Policy and Evidence Centre (in which the Bonavero Institute partners with the Universities of Liverpool and Hull, and the lead partner, which is based in the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford) and engage in their own independent research, which may focus on modern slavery or other key research questions within the broader field of business and human rights. They will also undertake, by arrangement with the Faculty of Law and the Director of the Bonavero Institute, supervision of doctoral and master’s level students.The postholder will hold a doctorate in law in an aspect of business and human rights or a related field; be able to demonstrate an expertise in modern slavery; have outstanding research skills, and an outstanding record of published scholarship in fields relevant to Business and Human Rights and/or Modern Slavery or a related field. Additionally, they will be able to demonstrate experience or potential to mentor and supervise research students; with excellent communication skills and ability to communicate human rights scholarship to a wide audience. It would be desirable the successful candidate to have experience as a principal investigator and/or co-investigator in research-council funded research projects; knowledge of key national and international research funders in the field of business and human rights and/or modern slavery and experience in engaging with policymakers and contributing in policymaking processes.The role is full time and fixed term to 31 March 2027.The closing date for applications is midday on Friday 14 June 2024.
