About the roleThe appointment is in connection with the Research Project “Axiomatic Theories of String Diagrams for Categories of Probabilistic Processes” led by Prof. Fabio Zanasi at University College London. The aim of the project is to develop sound and complete axiomatisations for categories of probabilistic processes (Markov categories), based on the graphical language of string diagrams. These calculi will then be employed to develop compositional methods for a wide range of probabilistic graphical models (including Bayesian networks, Markov random fields, Credal networks) and Bayesian inference tasks.The research fellow will conduct research within the Programming Languages, Logic and Verification (PPLV) group at UCL. They will be given the opportunity to join a vibrant research environment with a mix of senior and early career researchers active in the areas of logic, algebra, and categorical methods in computer science. There are ample opportunities for collaborations.
