Offer Description2-Year Postdoctoral Position in Frontiers of Ocean and Planetary ScienceUniversity of Southampton (Schools of Ocean & Earth Science / Physics & Astronomy)Start Date: Early 2026 (flexible)The University of Southampton invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join a newly formed collaboration between Prof. Alberto Naveira Garabato, Dr. Alessandro Silvano and Dr. João M. Mendonça. You will investigate ocean and sea-ice dynamics on Earth and the icy moons of our Solar System, using the state-of-the-art Oceananigans model. Over the two-year appointment (1 + 1), you will also co-develop a next-generation ocean component for integration into the universal climate model OASIS.We are looking for a candidate with a PhD (or equivalent) in Physical Oceanography, Atmospheric or Planetary Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field, completed by the start of the appointment. You should have strong scientific programming skills (Julia, Python, Fortran or C++) and hands-on experience with ocean or sea-ice modelling.
