Job Description:Grade UE07: £39,347 – £46,974 per annumMRC Human Genetics Unit/Institute of Genetics and CancerFull-time: 35 hours per weekFixed-term: for 2 yearsWe are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated chromatin biologist to join Nick Gilbert’s research group ( ; @chromatinlab). Our group forms part of a vibrant research community within the MRC Human Genetics Unit where our specific focus is understanding how chromatin structure regulates gene expression and genome stability. Strong interest in chromatin biology and/or gene regulation is crucial whilst previous experience in molecular biology, genome-engineering and 3C/Hi-C techniques are desirable.The Opportunity:This project aims to investigate how condensin packages chromosomes and is important for maintaining genome stability. This is a unique opportunity for a recently graduated PhD student or an experienced post-doctoral researcher to join a diverse team of chromatin biologists, physicists and bioinformaticians all investigating chromatin architecture and regulation.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • PhD in a relevant subject.
  • Strong interest in chromatin biology.
  • Molecular biology and tissue culture techniques including CRISPR, ChIP, RNAi, next generation sequencing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
