037124The roleThe Institute for Communication Systems (ICS), home of the 5GIC & 6GIC, is looking to recruit a full-time Research Fellow to work on a project for Future Wireless Communications. The project, 6G-FINESSE: Is 6G a Friend or Foe for Physical Layer Security in Quasi-Static Environments, is funded through CHEDDAR: Communications Hub for Empowering Distributed Cloud Computing Applications and Research and uplift thereof named CHEDDAR: Communications Hub for Empowering Distributed Cloud Computing Applications and Research – TMF uplift (the “Project”), awarded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).For this opening, the successful candidates will require to have research experience in wireless communication systems design in university and/or industry environments. In November 2020, 6GIC was officially launched with parallel research undertaken in both 5G+ and 6G for 2030+.The successful candidate will be joining a very strong and vibrant research team and will be supported by academic staff working on the programmeAbout youApplicants must have a PhD in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering. It is essential for candidates to have experience with optimisation theory and/or machine learning, as well as expertise in areas of wireless communications, 6G networks, resource management, and/or cybersecurity. You should have experience in conducting research, understanding the research process, and summarising findings. It is desirable for candidates to have theoretical and/or practical knowledge of physical layer security, key generation schemes, and/or information theory.
