Job description
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow to work on novel wireless communication systems with focus on not-terrestrial networks.Be a part of the University of Southampton, an institution in the top one per cent of world universities and one of the UK’s Russell group research-intensive universities. We have an international reputation for research, teaching and enterprise activities. You will work in the world leading Next Generation Wireless Team in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and will have access to the world class facilities and dedicated researchers that this provides.The project will exploit cutting-edge signal processing technique for non-terrestrial network design for beyond-5G mobile networks. This will include the signal processing design, the theoretical characterisation of these design and the computer simulations of these design. You will demonstrate the potential of these designs in communication networks, often in collaboration with the project partners and other researchers in the group.
To be successful, you must have a strong background in wireless communications and signal processing. Ideally, you will also have experience in mathematical modelling and optimisation as well computer simulations of wireless systems.You must also have proven skills in the critical evaluation and interpretation of data and of working as part of a collaborative research team.
You must hold a PhD* or equivalent qualification related to wireless communications. Previous postdoctoral experience is favoured but not necessary.Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
