As part of the “Provenance Analytics for Research Software (PARS)” project, you will explore real-world data describing the connections between research software, publications, and contributors. In understanding these connections, we will (i) transform how we perceive the significance, originality, and rigor of developing research software, and (ii) improve the transparency, facilitate result reproducibility, and encouraging the citation of research software in academic literature.About youWe are seeking a researcher to contribute to the integration and analysis of research software provenance data. In this role, you will lead the development of models and tools, collect research data, and generate valuable insights into research software. Collaborating closely with project partners and under the guidance of the principal investigator, you’ll leverage insights from diverse research activities to develop a comprehensive understanding of research software, academic literature, and contributors.You will be involved with modeling and implementing the PARS framework to capture research activities, research software, and contributors. You will expand existing tooling written in Python to capture real world data, which will be used to generate data for conferences, journals, and policymakers. You will also engage in stakeholder consultations to drive user-driven model development, addressing both academic research and practical needs. You will be able to participate in policy workshops which will provide avenues for engagement with policymakers.It is essential you have an equivalent professional qualifications or PhD, and experience in Computer Science in the broad area of knowledge graphs, software engineering, research software and data science, and the ability to code in Python.The position will be located within ECS on Highfield Campus and the management will be provided by the project’s Principle Investigator, Dr. Heather Packer.
