About usThe CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability and integrity.Position outlineA position is available for a motivated, ideally dynamic and organised person to join the Research Management Team to drive the CRUK Scotland Institute’s external research income. The post-holder will work collaboratively with researchers throughout the funding life cycle, identifying funding opportunities, providing targeted and specific application advice, contributing application content, developing budgets, and co-ordinating the submission process. They will also co-ordinate the post-award workflow, working with funders, HR, Finance, Cancer Research Horizons and external partners. The role will also include administrative tasks such as developing content for the Institute’s intranet pages on research funding acquisition and recording and tracking funding applications and awards. The post-holder will work in the supportive and active environment of the Research Management Team, under the guidance of the Head of Service – Research Integrity and have opportunities to develop their skills in research management.You should have demonstrable experience of supporting or co-ordinating research funding applications and working in a research management role. You will need to be a well-organised individual, with an attention to detail, and able to multi-task. In addition, you should have a collaborative mindset, an open communication style and possess the ability to form strong and effective relationships within a scientific environment. You must be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.Essential Requirements:
