A position is available for a motivated, dynamic and organised person to join the Research Management Team to drive the CRUK Scotland Institutes external research income. The post-holder will work collaboratively with researchers throughout the funding life cycle, identifying funding opportunities, providing targeted and specific application advice, contributing application content, developing budgets, and co-ordinating the submission process. They will also co-ordinate the post-award workflow, working with funders, HR, Finance, Cancer Research Horizons and external partners. The role will also include administrative tasks such as developing content for the Institutes intranet pages on research funding acquisition and recording and tracking funding applications and awards. The post-holder will work in the supportive and active environment of the Research Management Team, under the guidance of the Head of Service – Research Integrity and have opportunities to develop their skills in research management.You should have demonstrable experience of supporting or co-ordinating research funding applications and working in a research management role. You will need to be a well-organised individual, with an attention to detail, and able to multi-task. In addition, you should have a collaborative mindset, an open communication style and possess the ability to form strong and effective relationships within a scientific environment. You must be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.A full job description for the position is available.Essential Requirements:

  • A PhD in Biological/Biomedical Sciences
  • Postgraduate research experience in Biological/Biomedical Sciences (minimum 3 years)
  • Experience in a Research Management role
  • Experience of supporting or co-ordinating research funding applications
  • Experience of writing research funding applications
  • Knowledge of the research funding landscape
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent team working skills, with a flexible and helpful approach
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the research life cycle, processes and research culture
  • Attention to detail and a good eye for the visual presentation of information
  • Experience in preparing costings or budgets for funding applications
