In addition to researchers, our team includes marketing and operational professionals, working together to collaboratively design, develop, and deploy research and insights to support the Life Sciences and Health Care industry practice, the market, and other stakeholders. DCHS is one of seven research centers that form Research & Insights, part of Deloitte’s Growth and Purpose business unit at Deloitte US.

Position

The Research Manager works with the DCHS Managing Director, Research Leads, and key LSHC industry/sector leaders to develop, design, execute, and take to market business research and insights for the Health Care sector in the LSHC industry. This individual will also collaborate with other researchers on cross industry topics. As a key member of the DCHS research team, the Research Manager will contribute to the advancement and quality of business research/thought leadership, compelling written content, support key goals of DCHS in the marketplace, and focus on conducting research on health care, including hospitals, health systems, clinicians, health insurance plans, and health policy and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct primary research using quantitative research methodologies, including analyses of complex data sets and survey data, on business trends and topics for health care for research publication to support LSHC leaders, practice priorities, and client needs.

  • Lead and manage research projects ensuring timely achievement of milestones and high-quality deliverables.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners on research and publications to test hypotheses and validate

  • Pursue research on areas that can be translated into hypotheses, contribute to new business for the practice, and grow existing business.

  • Use academic rigor and methodology required of public health and health services research, including conductingnovelanalysis and evaluation of publicly available and other industry data sets.

  • Present findings effectively to a variety of stakeholders, including client, professional, and academic meetings that helps executives understand strategic decisions and implications.

  • Prepare reports, research papers, and presentations, summarizing research findings from studies or projects assigned and creatingtools for the industry practice.

  • Review the work of junior team members.

  • Monitor and review the health policy and regulatory landscape to synthesize policies and regulations with implications for research topics and translate into implications for the industry practice and marketplace.

  • Utilize AI and analytics programs to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable insights.

    This role is evolving, and opportunities to expand responsibilities and take on more challenging tasks will be readily available. A high degree of flexibility and ability to handle ambiguity and changing priorities are required.

Qualifications:

Education/experience qualifications

  • 7+ years of quantitative analysis, writing, research, and project management skills

  • Experience with designing and conducting academic level health services research, including expertise in conducting meta-analyses and analyzing industry public data sets

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly writing for business audiences

  • Ability to synthesize complex information, translate trends, and create actionable insights and a compelling narrative for business audiences

  • Interest and knowledge in trends, policies, and regulations, and the business of the Health Care sector (hospitals, health systems, clinicians, and health insurance plans)

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing stakeholders, and delivering timely, high-quality projects

  • Experience with health policy and regulatory analysis

  • Ability to learn quickly, synthesize, communicate and put insights into context for informing research questions, analysis, and presenting insights

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

  • Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

    Preferred qualifications

  • PhD or master’s degree in public health, social science, health policy, economics, epidemiology, sociology, health care administration, or business preferred

  • Strong people skills and communication skills with an ability to relate industry trends to the strategic thinking of senior business executives (internal and external)

  • Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize activities, ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, excellent attention to detail, and ability to manage to aggressive deliverable due dates and workplans

  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills

  • Track record of high performance; consultative and strategic mindset; ability to navigate ambiguous circumstances and complex structures

  • Exceptional writing skills

  • Manage team members and mentor junior team members

  • Collegial and team-oriented, proven teaming skills; willing to pitch in and “wear many hats”

  • Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful

  • Ability to work effectively with others, many of whom may be geographically remote

  • Public speaking experience

  • Familiarity and use of generative AI and AI tools

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,600 to $179,900.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
