JOB CONTEXT:

The 3i Division’s mission is to ensure the quality and continuous improvement of operations. It favors an agile approach to identifying and defining the methods and processes needed to design, manage and develop the social mission and interventions. It encourages and supports the development of skills and the evolution of practices among HI staff and its operational partners. It contributes to developing an innovative and learning organization in all its contexts of intervention and activity.

The 3i Division employs over 10 people responsible for supporting the various facets of this mandate for Humanity & Inclusion programs. It comprises 5 units: MEAL Unit, Data Unit, Innovation,- Unit, Research Unit and Transversal Approaches Unit.

The Research Unit’s mission is to steer research governance within HI, promote research and evidence generation, create new research opportunities by developing scientific collaborations and contributing to project design. The unit also manages the implementation of research projects.

YOUR MISSION:

The aim of this position is to first design and test a trans-sectorial methodology to measure the outcomes of HI projects on the level of inclusiveness of services and then develop and promote guidance on this methodology.

In this framework, your main duties are:

Task 1: Design phase: Produce an alpha version of the methodology to measure the level of services’ inclusiveness

– Review the various documents relating to the project INSER (working group minutes and recommendations, steering committee minutes and decisions, seminar reports…) and interview Key Informants in charge of the phase 1 to understand the stages, pathways and key decisions taken during phase 1 of the project on the inclusiveness of services,

– Learn from HI existing tools and external approaches to anchor the methodology in what already exists,

– Based recommendations and scope defined by the working group, the steering committee and during the seminar, develop a methodological note describing (1) how the methodology will be developed and (2) how the methodology will be tested,

– Facilitate the working group and ensure follow-up with the study steering committee,

– Coordinate with others relevant teams to ensure feasibility and relevance of the work produced,

Task 2: Testing phase: Plan the field phases, test the designed methodology in 2 countries and adjust it.

– Identify the 2 testing countries,

– Organize and supervise testing in both countries (data collection planning, recruitment and training of local assistants if necessary…). At least 2 field missions will be required.

– Ensure that testing phase complies with ethical considerations.

– Obtain all the administrative authorizations required to carry out the research (ethical and other committees).

– Analyze all data collected and adjust the methodology if needed.

Task 3: Uptake phase: Ensure the findings sharing and contribute to knowledge transfer activities

– Produce a guidance presenting and explaining how and when to use the designed methodology,

– Facilitate workshops or webinars to share main findings in the 2 research countries and broadly,

– Contribute to internal communication by presenting work in progress and new resources produced (through articles and oral presentations)

Task 4: Contribute to the administrative and budgetary follow-up of the research project

– Contribute to the management of the project budget

– Ensure that implementation complies with administrative, time and financial requirements

ACCESSIBILITY OF THE POSITION:
Based in Lyon or in Brussels, the position is located in Open Space, boxes are available for quieter if necessary and the workspace is very bright. Concerning the building, elevators and access ramps are available.

Requirements

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a master’s degree in social sciences or health with a demonstrated experience in conducting field research / studies linked to outcomes measurements.
  • You have a proven experience in research project and project management with a strong focus on monitoring and evaluation,
  • You have experience working in low- and middle-income countries,
  • You have a proven experience in collecting, processing and analyzing quantitative/qualitative data (monitoring, assessment, evaluation, research…)
  • You are fluent both in English and French
  •  You are at ease with social relations, liaising with various players.

CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Type of contract: Fixed-term contract (CDD) for 8 months
  • Working hours: 35-hours week
