The School of Healthcare leads the contribution of the University of Leeds to the NIHR School for Social Care Research (Phase IV) and NICHE-Leeds (a partnership between science and care in the city). We are looking for a highly motivated Research Trainee with experience as a social care practitioner who is looking to develop their research skills and experience for their future career ambitions. You will have excellent organisational skills and be curious. You will want to learn and develop by actively contributing to our portfolio of research for the benefit older people, and social care practice and policy.Supervised by Professor Karen Spilsbury and senior researchers, you will develop skills in research methods, including literature searches, collecting and analysing data. You will help create plain English summaries and online resources to ensure our research reaches the right people at the right time, with maximum impact. We need an excellent communicator who is sensitive to the needs of older people, including those living with dementia.As a research trainee you will help plan, prepare and undertake research and contribute to publications and other outputs from the research. You will engage with different groups: older people (some living with dementia), their carers (family and friends), social care practitioners and our academic partners.This position is for one-year. You will be given opportunities, support and time, to engage in professional development to help you secure the funding needed to progress your research career.Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions.
