This role involves delivering a research-based and evidence-informed curriculum that provides a comprehensive approach to postgraduate researcher (PGR) learning and development.As a Researcher Developer, you will join a small team dedicated to delivering a high-impact and well-respected program for PGRs across the University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the program’s development and direction, take autonomy over their teaching and coaching, design termly programs, and manage daily operations.The role emphasizes the development of strategic learning interventions that provide an inclusive, well-rounded approach to PGR development. This equips researchers to work across various sectors, adapt to change, and manage contemporary challenges. Candidates should have in-depth knowledge and experience in doctoral research, strong pedagogical skills, and preferably coaching experience or a willingness to train.To excel in this role, strong communication, planning, and administrative skills are essential.About YouThe ideal candidate will have a PhD in any discipline or equivalent professional experience. You should be passionate about making a positive impact on our PGR community, fostering a culture where PGRs can achieve their full potential. A deep understanding of the research landscape, the role of researchers in contemporary settings, and the complex demands on researchers and their supporting institutions is crucial. Additionally, you should have a solid grasp of the contribution of research to both the University and the broader global economy.As a member of the Doctoral College, you will bring energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence in our work, partnerships, and joint projects.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Researcher Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, delivering, commissioning, and evaluating development opportunities and resources that support PGRs’ practices.
  • Promoting an inclusive and accessible space for PGR participation through key areas of development, topics, themes, and delivery formats.
  • Contributing to the provision of primarily online workshops tailored to each specific group, incorporating performance and development coaching strategies, reflective learning and action learning practices.
  • Enabling PGRs to create and sustain strong professional identities that support their future success.
  • Encouraging and maintaining the development and use of SkillsForge
  • Enhancing the overall profile of the Doctoral College by taking responsibility for identified activities and initiatives.
  • Collecting and reporting on the impact of practices and development of PGRs.
  • Building and nurturing effective relationships with University communities and external partners, and supporting strategic projects designed to enhance the PGR experience.
  • Ensure clear communication of the PGR development offerings, utilising social media channels effectively.
  • Participate in relevant continuing professional development (CPD) and personal scholarship to enhance your professional skills.
  • Perform any other duties, appropriate to the grade of the post, as assigned by the Researcher Development Manager and Senior Colleagues of Doctoral College.
