Position description
Research on labour markets, social policy, skills and the future of work is performed by the Jobs & Skills Unit. Within the unit, the Future of Work programme investigates current and future changes in labour demand (the quantity and quality of jobs) and supply (workers and their skills) across sectors and occupations, driven by technological (e.g. AI, big data and cloud) and organisational (e.g. telework, outsourcing and platform work) changes.
CEPS is looking for a researcher to work on research projects and participate in independent policy advice on EU policy issues.
Main tasks
You will become part of the Future of Work programme and you will:
- Contribute to research projects related to the future of work and the impact of technological and organizational change on jobs, workers and labour markets;
- Participate in international research teams that carry out projects for the European Commission and other funding organisations;
- Contribute to the writing of reports, studies, academic papers and policy pieces;
- Assist in the acquisition of new research projects;
- Delivering presentations in the area(s) of expertise at project meetings and external events.
Qualifications
- You have a Masters degree with 2-3 years of research experience or you have a PhD in economics or sociology with a good knowledge of labour markets, work organisation and/or other social challenges;
- You have knowledge of policies (e.g. active labour market policies, education, skills, gender, minimum income, unemployment schemes) and understanding of EU initiatives in social policies;
- You have experience with qualitative research methods like grounded theory, discourse analysis or phenomenological analysis and qualitative data sources like interviews, documents and other media;
- Experience in conducting quantitative analysis is a plus;
- Experience with (or willingness to learn) R;
- Experience in coordinating externally funded research projects with an international team is a plus;
- You have a proven record of writing and presentation skills and can critically read and comment on academic publications in the field;
- You have an excellent command of English, both orally and in writing; knowledge of other EU official languages is a plus;
- You are willing and able to organise, moderate and contribute to events hosted by CEPS and its partners;
- You are willing to assist in writing funding proposals.
