As the UK’s National Measurement Laboratory, we develop advanced measurement techniques that drive innovation and ensure accuracy in scientific research.We’re looking for a Protein Mass Spectrometry Scientist to join our team. You’ll collaborate closely with researchers and partners to develop new methods for protein and peptide analysis, helping to solve real-world challenges. Your work will support government-funded research, private-sector R&D, and international scientific collaborations.What You’ll Be DoingIn this role, you will design, develop, and refine analytical methods to improve the way proteins and peptides are measured. You’ll focus on quantification and structural characterization using mass spectrometry, ensuring results are reliable and traceable to international standards. You’ll also contribute to research publications, collaborate with external partners, and support commercial projects that expand our capabilities.Every day, you’ll be working with brand new instrumentation, advanced data analysis techniques, and a team of experts who are passionate about scientific discovery.QualificationsYou have a PhD (or equivalent experience) in industry, academia, or clinical research. You’ve worked extensively with protein quantification techniques and mass spectrometry, using both label-free and labeled approaches. Experience with targeted quantification methods (such as MRM/SRM or PRM) and mass spectrometry instruments like Orbitrap, qTOF, or QQQ is important.Beyond technical expertise, we value curiosity and collaboration. We work as a team, supporting each other to tackle scientific challenges, and we’re looking for someone who thrives in this kind of environment.
