Job Title: Resettlement Intern
Location: Hybrid/Remote

ABOUT THE JOB: The Resettlement Intern will work closely alongside our Reception and Placement (R&P) team. The Resettlement Intern will gain experience in case management, working closely with our R&P caseworkers to provide resources to newly arrived refugee families in the Los Angeles area. This internship opportunity will allow interns to gain hands-on experience in social work and related fields.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The intern will gain experience in an international non-profit organization through development and public benefit processes.
The intern will enhance their administrative skills by ensuring accurate and organized documentation of client records, case notes, and other administrative materials.
The intern will develop their self-sufficiency by working independently and becoming a self-starter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct research on community services and resources pertinent to the R&P program and provide comprehensive recommendations to R&P casework staff.
Handle paperwork and digital filing efficiently, ensuring accurate and organized documentation of client records, case notes, and other administrative materials.
Collaborate with R&P caseworkers to streamline administrative processes and enhance operational efficiency within the R&P Team.
Provide general administrative support to the R&P Team by performing clerical tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational background in Social Sciences, Global Studies, International Relations, Sociology, or equivalent experience in serving immigrant populations (including refugees, asylum seekers, etc.) is preferred.
Completion of IRC orientation and passing a full background check (HireRight) is required.
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity towards the vulnerable immigrant population, coupled with a strong commitment to aiding unaccompanied minors in their adjustment to life in the U.S.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment.
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
Culturally competent and proficient communication skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Enthusiastic about learning about the broader IRC mission, philosophy, global work, and local initiatives.
Willingness to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies.
