We provide support that looks at the whole person, not just their mental health needs, but consider their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.Job Profile:Lions Housing Centres Inc. is recruiting for a permanent full-time day Resident Care Manager (RCM) position. This position is responsible for the overall leadership and management of a unit in a long-term facility, while also being a key player in the organization’s quality improvement initiatives. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the day RCM strives to ensure the highest quality of resident care. This position reports directly to the Director of Care.Job Responsibilities:Resident Care/Clinical Practice:

  • Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver safe, quality care.
  • Directs, plans, and coordinates resident care to meet or exceed Regional, Provincial, and National standards, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Evaluates care delivery, resident outcomes, and satisfaction of residents and staff.
  • Ensures current policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines are utilized to facilitate safe care.
  • Facilitates efficient discharges and transfers in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Implements Fire and Disaster Plans and security protocols for resident safety.
  • Establishes, monitors, and evaluates departmental objectives aligned with the mission and philosophy.
  • Prioritizes care based on resident needs.
  • Participates in best practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes effective communication with residents, families, staff, external care agencies, and providers.

Resource Management:

  • Identifies budget management issues affecting unit operations and informs the Director of Care.
  • Enhances efficiency and cost-effectiveness through unit and LHC initiatives.
  • Reports unit supply and equipment needs.
  • Communicates equipment repair and maintenance needs for resident and staff safety.
  • Participates in budget planning for human resources and equipment.

Human Resource Management:

  • Plans unit resident care assignments based on acuity/complexity and staff expertise.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels 24/7, considering resident acuity and safety.
  • Participates in hiring new employees based on resident care needs and guidelines.
  • Ensures staff receive necessary orientation for safe resident care.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, counsels employees, and participates in discipline.
  • Manages performance issues in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams for a safe environment.
  • Develops effective unit communication, including regular staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and facility operations.
  • Adheres to organization’s Respectful Workplace Policy and Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Participates in mandatory annual education.
  • Collaborates with all staff as required.
  • Promotes effective working relationships among team members.
  • Embraces organizational initiatives for resident care improvement. This includes new technology, systems, and procedures.

  • Effectively communicates with residents, families, staff, and external care providers.
  • Adheres to and implements organizational policies and procedures.

Your education and qualifications:

  • Current registration with CRNM or CRPNM
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree (BN) is an asset.
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience, preferably long-term care
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in both oral and written English communication.
  • 1 years’ experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of MDS
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible to change as situations warrant.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an expressed willingness to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Organizational skills, with a particular emphasis on time management.
  • Experience in long-term care settings preferred.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of employment standards and health & safety.
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible to change as situations warrant.
  • Organizational abilities, with a particular emphasis on time management.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Satisfactory Adult Abuse Record Check.
  • Up to date immunization.
