Your Opportunity:This position supports the Kaye Edmonton Clinic by functioning as a clinical Respiratory Therapist II expert and organizing the provision of respiratory care for all the clinics within the building. The RT II provides leadership within their area by demonstrating excellent patient care, ongoing education to colleagues and developing and enhancing the roles, responsibilities, accountabilities of RRTs in their area. As RRT service providers, the RT II is accountable to the Program’s Medical Director(s) and Clinical Manager for ensuring high quality RRT service delivery. The RTII functions as an alternate care provider to independently assess, manage, and evaluate care prior to the Respiratory Physicians’ initial assessment and through continuing follow-up care. The RTII provides clinical leadership by assisting all staff members (RN, LPN, RD, SLP, clerical support) and working collaboratively at the KEC in problem-solving regarding patient assessment, treatment, and follow-up. Organizes the provision of respiratory care within program(s) of responsibility. Ensures that communicated care plans are documented appropriately. Actively participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, collaborating with the Clinical Manager for the programs, physician(s) and other team members on Program goals for respiratory care. The RT II will be responsible for continuing competence through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs and continuous improvement activities.Description:As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.
Required Qualifications:Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education (CoARTE). Current BLS-HCP with the physical ability to perform CPR on adult patients. Recent Ambulatory care experience within the last 2 years. Recent Experience with Respiratory education, management, oxygen funding, CPAP/BPAP funding pathways, inhaled medications within the last 2 years. A working knowledge Connect Care, Netcare, Outlook and Word as well as other applications is required. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills, and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member. The candidate needs to be able to work independently and needs to have high organizational and prioritizing skills. An intermediate level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of keyboard computer work and the ability to assist patients with mobility limitations is required (i.e., transfers, bariatric clients, bending, stooping, twisting, walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds.
