The role of Retail Effectiveness is a key specialist role with the opportunity to make a meaningful Member and organizational impact that supports the achievement of set strategic objectives in this area. In this role, the Retail Effectiveness Specialist provides sales effectiveness support to all retail employees from branch leaders to our frontline sales and service teams while improving their capabilities and confidence to drive performance results. Although coaching remains as one of the core responsibilities of Branch leaders, the Retail Effectiveness Specialist collaborates and supplements the capacity and capabilities of Branch leaders to assist in supporting tactics that can provide for an outstanding Member experience.Our Retail Effectiveness Specialist will work closely with the Manager of Sales Effectiveness to execute our organizational marketing and sales initiatives. They will support annual business plans, individual/branch action plans and initiatives to maximize growth.The Sales Effectiveness Specialist role is supportive for all Sales & Service tactics to engage sales channels with best practices and make meaning of changes coming from Retail Product & Transformation. This role will work closely with Branches, MMS, and Retail Support to make meaning of sales goals, sales practices within tools (such as Proactive Sales Contacts within CRM) and overcoming Member objections during the sales process. The subject matter expert will also champion the sale and service tools (employee facing).Key Responsibilities:Impact On Business

  • Build out sales and service best practices to be implemented for Retail Banking to support Member conversations, sales goals, and objection handling.
  • Champion Products Per Member and Share of Wallet initiatives.
  • Champion PSC Leads overall program / results / reporting / scripting.
  • Develop framework for job aids / placemats / online tools to assist in best-in-class sales conversations.
  • Implement, monitor, and refine current sales tools that support all Retail products (employee facing)
  • Support CRM in partnership with Centre of Excellence on future enhancements and capabilities within the platform,
  • Support sales campaigns for RSP, Mortgage/HELOC and Everyday banking to engage all sales and service teams.
  • Make meaning of the monthly sales scorecard
  • Support skill builder sessions with ongoing monthly sessions
  • Support with DVP branch structured visits and observational coaching
  • BM observational coaching for FSA & MSR / scorecard review / readiness for DVP visits
  • Advice driven Member meetings – what a successful Member interaction will include, incorporating Member Discovery in the process.
  • Tracking and monthly reporting to then be built to support the above
  • Enhancements to the program as it evolves with the Target Operating Model
  • ‘Digital first’ business support person to partner with our Digital partners to increase digital (Walk out Working).
  • Support our Advisors in improving Member satisfaction, sales quality, deepening and building the Member relationship with Meridian.

Members / Stakeholders

  • Effectively use performance KPIs, Member feedback, and knowledge of top performers i.e., peer mentorship to accelerate and drive development of all sales representatives.
  • Effectively deploy coaching techniques by using structured, individual development plans to support the growth and development of all sales representatives.
  • Facilitate in-person and remote coaching sessions in groups and/or one-on-one for areas of expertise.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Deliver coaching to build sales representatives skills on specific knowledge areas and/or skill-sets.
  • Proactively implement advanced coaching techniques to motivate and encourage learning to re-enforce application within the Member discovery/ sales process.
  • Work with Branch Leadership to facilitate sharing of best practices, monitoring, supporting the development, optimization of business and financial performance of the sales team.
  • Work with all areas of retail to ensure the consistent approach and application of sales standards.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Comply with Market Code of Conduct, industry regulators and organizational regulations in all aspects of strategy, sales processes, product suitability, Member correspondence and administration.
  • Contribute to Meridian creating and retaining market leading standards.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

How you will succeed:

  • Retail banking experience and knowledge required
  • Proven Creditor Protection sales skills and results
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills
  • Passion for Member Well-being, coaching and developing people
  • Knowledge of lending, insurance and sales concepts
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and prioritize work assignments
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to support the building of strong relationships
  • Travel will be required for branch visits
  • University or College degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience in related industry
  • Minimum of (5) five to (7) seven years of direct lending sales experience, preferably in a branch retail environment
  • Exceptional sales and service skills; demonstrated ability to build relationships and maintain current business
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Must be proficient with common computer applications particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Exhibits enthusiasm and promotes a team environment
  • A self-starter; takes initiative with the ability to work independently, with little supervision
  • Confident, mature, and able to thrive in a changing, dynamic work environment.
  • Understands and demonstrates positive outlook towards change

Office Location: 75 Corporate Park Drive. St Catharines, ON L2S 3W3.
