United Nations Development Programme
Concept Development for the GCF Adaptation Project.
UNDP and DFCC, as accredited entities of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in collaboration with USAID Climate Adaptation Project and the key government stakeholders (i.e., Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Presidential Secretariat, etc.), have embarked on an initiative to develop a project on climate change adaptation (CCA), targeting smallholder agriculture producers and entrepreneurs in the Dry and Intermediate Zones, to be submitted to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The project envisages providing concessional financing to ensure that investments necessary for CCA will be made available and affordable to smallholder producers and entrepreneurs. The project aims to transform rural agriculture livelihoods from subsistence to enterprising by channeling private and public investment to facilitate the emergence of RAEs with business rationales (i.e., viable models, bankable projects) attracting private investment, thus empowering smallholder farmers.
