THE ROLE

The University of Hull’s Commercial Services team are responsible for generating profit through the delivery of conferences and events. Our venues range from a dedicated conference suite, to use of academic buildings across campus. Our functional areas are wide ranging and include, retail catering, internal hospitality, residential conference facilities, corporate events, weddings and family celebrations as well as a busy outside catering operation. These activities operate across the University estate, which is circa 250,000m2 and consists of 107 buildings as well as other areas within the city of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The Sales and Events Coordinator is a critical role within the Commercial Services team, as they are responsible for administrating and co-ordinating the sale and delivery of internal bookings and commercial events, hospitality deliveries and internal and commercial accommodation bookings in venues and residences across the University.

You will be highly organised, have a keen eye for detail and possess excellence communication skills. We’re an education institution – it’s our bread and butter! You will therefore ideally have a good level of education, e.g. GCSE in English and Maths. You will be responsible for liaising with clients to plan and deliver excellent conference and events experiences for guests and will be the first point of contact for customers, providing a proactive, professional and flexible support service to staff, students and colleagues measured against defined service level agreements and KPIs. To be successful in this role, you will have substantial experience working within an events or customer service role.

Primarily – you will be a brand champion for Beyond Events !

It is an exciting time to be joining the University of Hull’s Catering and Events team within Commercial Services as we look to develop and grow the business further. The Sales and Events Coordinator will:

  • Sell, coordinate and deliver conferences and events on behalf of the University of Hull’s Commercial Services by acting as the customer contact point from initial enquiry through to the completion of any given event.
  • Contribute to the development and income generation of Commercial Services through specific tasks and targets set for the team.
  • Proactively sell University space to generate income and return a profit to Commercial Services.
  • Meet with prospective and regular clients to conduct wedding, conference and event show rounds to discuss event logistics prior to booking activity.

Note that this role includes some evening and weekend working in line with business requirements.
