Together, we’re working at the pace of change to improve patient lives with diagnostic tools that address the world’s biggest health challenges.The Global Clinical Affairs function provides leadership and direction on all clinical decisions related to the overall Leica Biosystems business strategy.The Sample Biobank Manager for Leica Biosystems is responsible for the procurement, management and storage of all samples and slides used within LBS sponsored clinical research studies.The Sample Biobank Manager holds an essential position within clinical operations function of the Global Clinical Affairs team to ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and department standard operating procedures. This position will be on-site in Newcastle, UK and will report to the Director of Clinical Operations, responsible for the effective implementation and execution of our clinical trials and research initiatives. - Establish and maintain a centralized biorepository for all specimens used in clinical research studies performed by Leica Biosystems
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the acquisition, accessioning, storage, and distribution/shipping of biological samples
- Partner with Clinical and Core Team representatives to oversee sample procurement, shipments, cataloging, and archiving based on applicable protocol and regulatory requirements (i.e. GCP, HIPAA, HTA, etc.)
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Demonstrated experience in biobank/sample management within a clinical operations or research setting
- Implementation of biobank management software to track and manage specimen inventories
- Support development of plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies of related clinical sample management activities
- Collaborate with clinical researchers, laboratory personnel, and other stakeholders to support research projects and initiatives
- BA/BS degree with extensive sample management or advanced degree (MS/PhD/PharmD) with extensive relevant experience
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Previous experience supporting Oncology, Anatomical Pathology and/or clinical diagnostic studies is preferred
- Familiarity in biohazardous domestic and international shipping practices (IATA guidelines)
