We are recruiting world-class scientists who are passionate about the possibilities of science to change lives!We are seeking highly motivated senior researchers with a strong understanding of neuronal reflexes and respiratory disease, to join our Bioscience In Vivo team within the Early R&I department based at Imperial College, London.What you’ll doIn this role you will focus your research on characterising mechanisms driving neuronal reflexes in airway and immunological disease. You will be a key member of the team and undertake the design and execution of bioscience in vitro and in vivo experiments. You will also work closely with key leaders in other team and in partner functions to ensure project goals are met. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and reporting scientific activities, including keeping accurate records. The role will sometimes involve implementing protocols over timelines that extend outside of normal working patterns.Essential Skills/Experience:

  • A PhD or equivalent, in a relevant scientific discipline with 5+ years postdoctoral/industrial experience.
  • Experience in extracellular electrophysiological recording techniques in airway sensory nerves.
  • Knowledge of and experience in in vivo afferent single fibre techniques.
  • Possess an understanding of key biological pathways in respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD and IPF.
  • Current PIL license holder with extensive experience in the planning and execution of in vivo studies especially in respect to the 3Rs.
  • Experience with working with human biological samples with knowledge of appropriate regulations.
  • Experience of cellular imaging and recording techniques in primary cells.
  • Demonstrable experience in the identification, establishment and implementation of new technologies and methods.
  • Substantial publication record and experience in presenting at scientific meetings.
  • Proven experience in training, supervision and mentoring.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Possess an understanding of key biological pathways in immunological disease.
  • Strong understanding and technical skills in multiple biochemical and molecular techniques including primary cell culture, quantification of mRNA (qPCR), protein expression, ELISA, Western blot, etc.
